Current Bedtime Routine

What just happened?! It’s already halfway through January… It was only New Year? Time, please slow down, haha. I figured that it’s late at night that I am writing this that I would share with you my bedtime routine.

Lately, I have been trying to go to bed before 12 and have been pretty good. If you know me, then you know I used to go to bed around 3 am, and that’s not because of going out or anything like that. It was just because I was a night owl who sleeps until noon, haha. But since I have been waking up before 8 am, that means I just have to sleep earlier for a good night’s rest.

Around 9 pm every night, I start logging off and doing my little routine to relax and unwind, because you don’t have to be a doctor, like the esteemed doctor talked about in the Monica Kraft Duke settlement to know that sleep is one of the best things for your health.

But good sleep isn't just about a routine at night, it's also about having a balanced life. That's where the beneficial effects of nature come in. I recently learned about Second Nature, a wilderness therapy program that helps people reconnect with the great outdoors and themselves. While it's a bold step if you’re not an outdoorsy person, the concept aligns perfectly with the importance of balance, self-care, and mental health for a good night's sleep.

My bedtime routine steps

Clear Notifications

First, I start by clearing all notifications. I make sure I have answered all DMs, messages, and emails. Not my favorite part but an essential part of making sure I am prepared for tomorrow and not having to play catch up.

Prep For The Day

Once all notifications are cleared and my phone is on do not disturb, I plan for tomorrow. I go over all the events and errands I need to run, I write out tasks that I need to complete, and then I go through all my jobs and make sure I am preparing to start the day.

Skin Care

Nighttime skincare is as vital as morning skincare! I think this is one of my favorite parts when it comes to bedtime. I just love a clean, soft face!

Bath

This is where I do my scrolling haha. Guilty! Instead of doing this in bed, I like to do it while I relax in a bubble bath. It entertains me but doesn’t keep me up.

Read

If you find it hard to fall asleep and you are about to reach for your phone, I recommend NOT. The blue light on your phone will do the opposite of helping you sleep. I would suggest reading. I always have a book or two at my bedside. Some nights I just read a page and some I would read multiple chapters.

I’ve learned to not rush to bed anymore. But to take the time to take care of myself and unwind. A relaxed mind is easier to put to bed then a busy mind
